{"id":4611,"date":"2025-08-01T11:54:44","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T09:54:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/victoriaprimary.co.za\/?p=4611"},"modified":"2025-08-01T12:37:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T10:37:11","slug":"vp-newsletter-1-august-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/victoriaprimary.co.za\/?p=4611","title":{"rendered":"VP Newsletter 1 August 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Message from the office<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I wish to encourage all our parents to be involved in every aspect of their daughter\u2019s education; this includes being<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4612 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/victoriaprimary.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1-August-pic-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/victoriaprimary.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1-August-pic-1.jpg 229w, https:\/\/victoriaprimary.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1-August-pic-1-144x138.jpg 144w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 229px) 100vw, 229px\" \/> involved in and supporting our school\u2019s fundraising efforts, supporting on the side of the sports field, assisting and monitoring your daughter\u2019s homework and academic progress, ensuring that you pay your school fees and even reading the weekly newsletter (so that you are aware of what your daughter is involved in) as this is critical to your daughter\u2019s success at school.<\/p>\n<p>There is a strong correlation between parental involvement and your child\u2019s academic success, her willingness to participate in extramural activities, and her overall motivation and confidence &#8211; all of which are closely intertwined. More often than not, when a child is disinterested, unmotivated and has poor school attendance it is due to her guardians showing little or no interest in her schooling which is very sad when you consider the privilege it is to attend a school like VP and how many other children (and their parents) would do anything to be afforded the same opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>It is never too late to make a concerted effort to be more engaged with your daughter\u2019s schooling. Please communicate and work with her class teachers to ensure that she is given every opportunity to achieve her full potential and thrive. All family and friends are welcome to join us. <strong>Please enter through the office entrance on Beaufort Street.<\/strong> <strong>On Monday girls must come to school dressed in their clothes that they will wear to the Colour Run.<\/strong> Please note that these must be clothes that they are prepared to have stained with colours! White always works well! The times for the different age groups will be as follow:<\/p>\n<p>Grade 00&amp;R @12:00-12:45;\u00a0\u00a0Grade 1-3 @12:45-13:30;\u00a0\u00a0Grade 4-7 @13:30-14:30<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Extramurals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On Monday there will be no extramurals due to the Colour Run<\/strong>. All girls have received a new extramural programme for the athletics season. Please take note of your daughter\u2019s new pick-up times.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Assembly:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>On Monday, 4 August, Grade 3D will present their assembly. Parents are most welcome to join us. The assembly starts at 09:30.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Best Speakers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, 7 August we will have our Best Speakers.\u00a0The Best Speaker contestants\u00a0will start the event off at 08:30. The girls who are selected to present their orals will receive letters. Parents are welcome to attend.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Interhouse General Knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, 7 August at 10:30 we will be holding our annual Interhouse General Knowledge Quiz. The top-performing girls from the interhouse quiz will then represent VP in the quiz against Graeme College on Thursday, 28 August.<\/p>\n<p>The Interhouse Teams are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arum<\/strong>: Isabella Tladi,\u00a0 Iviwe Jakavula, Oluthando Tube, Christelle Ruwanza, Sibonokuhle Benge (reserve).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aloe<\/strong>: Aliyah Bezuidenhout, Tandolwetu Ketwa, Alibongwe Mthembu, Lashante Rama, Liyabona Benyane (reserve).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disa<\/strong>: Mila Nongubo, Imanathi Mcophele, Sairaah Govender, Nakweziphi Mthetho, Unakho Fetsha (reserve).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fern<\/strong>: Uzosule Kanana, Esethu Stamper, Avethandwa Hambaze, Lulo Adam, Chikhilupiriro Mithochi (reserve).<\/p>\n<p>We wish the teams all the best for what promises to be a fun educational event.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Interhouse Hockey <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday the 29th July our girls participated in the annual Interhouse Hockey. What a fun afternoon it was watching our gitld showcasing their hockey skills. A big thank you to the netball girls for helping their houses when players were needed. A big thank you to all the staff for their support and help on Tuesday. To the hockey coaches, thank you for a wonderful season.
